What we need

(via Nikita)

  • enclosure (can be a plastic pipe, like Urs said)
  • board to mount all the components - i may have an acrylic board sitting around that i can cut to size
  • antenna - this can be self-made for fun. but it won't be great :-)
  • antenna cable. i don't have a 50 ohm coax cable, nor the right connectors (seem to be SMA in the pics)
  • this antenna may work well and it already has a cable: https://www.pi-shop.ch/lpwa-outdoor-waterproof-antenna (likely need two of them for the board you chose)
  • and then there's little bits of hardware
    • stand-offs - can be 3d printed, if we don't find anything
    • mounting screws. the raspi seems to mount on (max) M2.5 screws. you won't get these in a hardware store, but i may have some
    • metal zip ties - no idea where to get those, but a hardware store may have them
