On the roof of the Effinger Coworking space, there are 4 flower beds that are relatively inaccessible to humans, but are a quiet island for urban insects and flowers. We would like to install an IoT (TTN - LoRaWAN) gateway and several sensors (low or solar power, open hardware) to do some monitoring of the climatic conditions and wildlife. Our main inspiration is Mitwelten.org
We are consulting with biodiversity experts and the local community, to see if we need to do anything to help improve the natural conditions. There has been an urban gardening group for some years at Effinger, who grow cherry tomatoes, berries, flowers, mushrooms, on the lower terraces. They have not until recently had access to the rooftop.
We are also planning to recruit people from the colearning project, in order to later display the data from our sensors somewhere inside the coworking space.
Please feel free to join us for the first stage, which is installing the gateway (weather conditions permitting), or future meetups to work on the soil beds and sensors.
The initiative is run on a volunteer basis by Oleg & Nikita.
