Effinger is a café and coworking space in the center of Bern, Switzerland. It has a diverse community, that serves as a great sounding board for socially conscious initiatives. See the Open Data Brownbag (2018, in Swiss German) for an example. We celebrate the day with our own art and creativity. People who come and go with us show their works, which are created in everyday life or in their free time. For the March 8 occasion, Effinger features:

  • Free admission (donationware)
  • Free coworking all day long!
  • Hands-on activities for children and adults

Open Data Day Bern

As our anniversary coincides with Open Data Day 2024, there will be a dedicated room (Labor, UG-1) dedicated to the "Data of Coworking". Here we are collecting ideas of software, hardware and conceptual projects that make use of the numbers of our space and operations. We will host an exhibition of student projects exploring spaces and cities. And we will think about further data sources to spark your curiosity. You can already look at the Finances challenge to discover Effinger's transparent reports.

If you want to show your support for this - Join In on any of the challenges above, and we will invite you to an on-site+remote conference during the afternoon.

How to find us

The Effinger café and coworking space is just a short walk from the main train station in Bern. You can also take a tram (3, 6, 7, or 8) to the "Kocherpark" stop. Please be careful when crossing the road. Hope to see you soon!

All attendees, sponsors, partners, volunteers and staff at our hackathon are required to agree with the Hack Code of Conduct. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to ensure a safe environment for everybody.
